Ann Curry
Ann Curry was born in America and is an American photographer and journalist. For more than forty-five years, she's focused on documenting human suffering, primarily when natural catastrophes or war are occurring. Curry covered the conflicts that raged in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Curry was born in Japan, and educated by her Japanese mom. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents met when her father served in Japan. Her father was a member of the military, so her family moved around a lot. They finally moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. Following her graduation from the University of Oregon, Curry received a bachelor degree in journalism degree in 1978. When she was a young woman she was exposed many cultures. The couple moved to various places like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. The broadcasting profession began with an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. At age 22, she was the first journalist female for the station. She then moved up to anchoring and reporting at KGW, an NBC-affiliated station in Portland. After four years, she was hired as a reporter by KCBS TV which is located in Los Angeles. It was during her time with this channel for six years that she received two Emmy Awards.
